Vienna Secession VS. Dome of the Rock

Vienna Secession

During the Vienna Secession, it was the time when architecture started to succeed from previous classical styles. It was formed by Austrian artist which included painters, sculptors, and architects. This period was a huge development in architecture where classical styles were shifted to modern architecture

Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem

Dome of the Rock was built during the classical period, where the structure was full of ornamentation and luxurious decorations.

Vienna Secession VS. Dome of the Rock

For the decoration along the building facade, it is obviously noticed from a first glance about the difference style and ornamentation between there two. Vienna Secession was reduced its decoration as much as possible and keep only some needed one. Comparing to the other one, Dome of the Rock, it has extreme decorations in every part of the structure whether the use of colors, materials use, or the building structure, itself.

Interior
In Vienna Secession, the interior was decorated by many paintings and sculptors. However, those arts are in more purer form of lines and shapes as well as representing in 2 dimensional point of view. The inside is all real with no architectural vision tricks at all, thus this is to show an honesty within the movement.

On the other hand, the interior of the Dome is still full of excessive ornamentation in everywhere from the floor decoration up to the ceiling design
